The Public Programs Coordinator supports the Manager of Public Programs and the scheduling, production, and implementation of interactive, hands-on programs geared towards children, families, and adults. This position collaborates across many departments and partners to provide meaningful learning experiences for all visitors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Grounds For Sculpture (GFS) is at the beginning of a long path toward building a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive (EDI) institution. We are looking for individuals, at all levels of the institution, who are interested in joining us on this journey of intentionality and public accountability. This path broadens our workforce (board, staff, volunteers), expands our artist selection and acquisition practice as well as strengthens our internal and external communication systems, networks and norms.

The Public Programs Coordinator supports the Manager of Public Programs and the scheduling, production, and implementation of interactive, hands-on programs geared towards children, families, and adults. This position collaborates across many departments and partners to provide meaningful learning experiences for all visitors.

The primary duties of the Public Programs Coordinator are to assist the Manager of Public Programs in creating and coordinating hands-on educational programs. This requires supporting the production of an array of public and private programs, including studio-based and horticulture-rooted workshops, drop-in programs for intergenerational and family audiences, wellness offerings geared towards adults, a very active teambuilding program for private and corporate groups, extended community partnership programs, and other small and large-scale events throughout the year. Additional responsibilities include composing internal memos to create awareness among colleagues in advance of scheduled events, drafting maintenance requests and coordinating with the GFS facilities team to ensure program spaces as prepared as needed for given workshops, events or similar, and creating requests for volunteers needed for specific events. This position also acts as a point person on the day of an event, either with Manager of Public Programs or independently, distributes program evaluation surveys post-event, and assists with managing studio spaces and maintaining our inventory of supplies. Special projects and facilitation of informal education offerings in the galleries and studios are assigned as needed.


Duties and Responsibilities
• Assists Manager of Public Programs with creating and coordinating educational programs for all ages.
• Serve as an ambassador for Grounds For Sculpture to help foster a culture of inclusion for all members, donors, volunteers, and guests.
• Assists with corporate and private events by booking programs, arranging the event, and follow-up as needed.
• Composes interdepartmental communications to notify Grounds For Sculpture teams of scheduled events.
• Coordinates volunteer requests for all experiential programming and assists Manager of Public Programs to provide training to volunteers who support programmatic offerings.
• Acts as a point person on the day of an event, either with Manager of Public Programs or independently.
• Distributes program evaluation surveys and analyze responses.
• Responsible for monitoring inventory of studio supplies and completing purchasing as needed. Setup and breakdown of supplies for programs. Maintains education studio spaces in a manner that is inviting and accessible to all visitors.
• Performs special projects as assigned by the Manager of Public Programs
• Facilitation of an array of informal education offerings in the galleries and studios as needed.
• All other duties as assigned

Requirements

Requirements
• Interest or experience in the fields of art, museum, or horticulture education
• Preferred proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Experience with Altru a plus
• Meticulous organization and planning skills desired
• Understanding of best practices in the field of museum education a plus
• Excellent customer service skills – flexible and handles stressful situations well.
• Outstanding people skills, and comfort interacting and working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
• Experience working with, coordinating, volunteers preferred
• Knowledge of art materials and techniques preferred
• Demonstrate respect and inclusiveness to all employees, embracing differences
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
• Ability to work regularly Tuesday through Saturday with some flexibility needed on nights and weekends.

Compensation & Benefits:
Hourly Rate: $19.23
Full Time (Non-Exempt)
