The Development Officer is an experienced Development professional with the ability to sustain and grow annual support for the organization. Primarily focused on identifying and cultivating prospects for new and increased support to the Playhouse, this position works with other members of the Development team in the stewardship of donors, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in Tessitura, and participating in all development activities including special events and campaigns where the Development Officer will be responsible for key deliverables.

The position reports to the Director of Development and is a member of the Development Department. This position does not supervise any direct reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

Principal Accountabilities:

Works with the Director of Development in creating and executing a Development Plan annually.
Responsible for identifying and cultivation new prospects and maintaining key relationships important to the organization, as assigned
Plays key role in the planning and execution of the Annual Fund appeals with primary responsibility for the writing of solicitation materials
Works with grant writer, as needed, to develop proposals and reports
Maintains accurate records and data, related their work, in CRM system
Works with the Development Associate in the stewardship of donors including timely and accurate formal acknowledgement of all Annual Fund and special campaign contributions and delivering of donor benefits
Works with Development team on planning and executing special events, including but not limited to: Opening Nights, Donor Cultivation Events, and the Annual Gala Benefit
Actively engages with donors, patrons, and community members and leaders at various events. This position is a member of the Patron Stewardship Team and participates in, and ensures, coverage of the donor lounge at assigned performances.

Work Conditions:
In addition to regular office hours (Monday through Friday 10am - 6pm), weekend and evening hours are, at times, required. Weekly work hour schedules for this position are approved by the Director of Development.

Requirements

Requirements:
Experience working in fundraising in a non-profit organization
Strong persuasive writing skills
Ability to work independently
Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Comfortable working collaboratively with other members of the development team and with other departments
Appreciation for theatre and understanding of its role in society

Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of experience working in fundraising in a non-profit organization cultivating and stewarding donors, planning special fundraising events, writing solicitation materials.
College degree in related field preferred, but will consider additional years of related work experience in lieu of degree
Experience with MS Word products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, others)
Experience with CRM systems; Tessitura experience a plus.
