The New Jersey Symphony is looking for a highly skilled marketer for the position of Marketing Manager. This role supports overall earned revenue goals through ticket sales by developing and implementing advertising, partnerships and promotional campaigns.

Core responsibilities: to manage advertising, partnerships and promotions in support of audience development.

Develop and implement advertising campaigns (print, online, radio, outdoor and grassroots).
Steward relationships with media regarding advertising and sponsorships.
Solicit and fulfill partnerships with external constituencies and create promotional opportunities that enhance the Orchestra’s visibility in our communities and develop the audience base.

Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Advertising

-Devise, coordinate and implement advertising strategies for social, online display, radio, print, outdoor and grassroots campaigns to support the New Jersey Symphony’s ticket sales activity.
-Negotiate media sponsorship agreements and oversee fulfillment of those agreements.
-Monitor and analyze campaign progress, and adjust campaigns as needed based on campaign reports.
-Work with Art Director to develop materials in support of marketing plans and sponsorship agreements, including all print, digital and video assets.
-Work with the New Jersey Symphony’s internal content team on creating new promotable content that increases advertising KPIs and ROI.
-Write compelling, on-message copy for print, radio and online ads in line with New Jersey Symphony branding and based on source content provided by external copywriter.
-Review and report on internal analytics for all advertising campaigns.
-Use data to make recommendations and informed decisions on future campaigns to increase ROI.

Partnerships and Promotions

-Solicit and fulfill new and existing partnerships with external constituents such as venue partners, affinity groups, corporations and community organizations.
-Create new promotional ideas that attract new audiences and reengage low-frequency attenders.
-Work with the Patron Services team on setting up promotions and ensuring communication of the existing promotions to the organization.

Audience Development Programs

-Manage the Young Friends program. Promote the program through professional groups and other community organizations to grow the Young Friends audience. Plan and provide support for onsite Young Friends receptions and events.
-Grow the student ticket programs through promotions to schools, music groups and other constituencies.
-Develop and steward new audience development programs to bring new audience to the Orchestra, focusing especially on the communities in which the New Jersey Symphony regularly presents concerts.

Other
-Maintain relationships with key community members, vendors and consultants.
-Contribute as an active part of the marketing team, developing marketing strategies to meet institutional objectives; attend and actively participate in weekly departmental and team meetings.
-Provide analytic reporting as required by senior staff and marketing committee needs.
-Stay within a given budget for all marketing initiatives; code invoices for payment and reconcile with finance data.
-Serve as marketing department representative at concerts and meetings.
-Perform various administrative tasks, such as data entry, file maintenance and brochure distribution, as needed.
-Perform additional projects as assigned.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

- Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office applications. Adobe Photoshop and Tessitura CRM experience is a plus but not required.
- Experience adapting and resizing graphics for use in multiple formats.
- Ability to quickly problem solve and effectively manage time.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- High level of organization and professionalism.
- Strong organizational and communication abilities and experience working with diverse teams.
- The discipline to work independently, but also the ability to function as a member of a team.
- Knowledge of live performing arts and familiarity with classical music is helpful but not required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and 4–5 years of experience in a marketing department, sales, advertising agency or arts administration role.

SALARY AND BENEFITS The salary range for this position is between $45,000–$55,000, commensurate with experience. The New Jersey Symphony offers a generous benefits package, including health, dental, insurance options and pension. Relocation reimbursement is not offered for this position. OTHER INFORMATION Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. Must be able to work evenings, weekends and some holidays and provide own transportation to multiple performance venues. Hours: Full time, Monday through Friday. Additional evenings and weekends may be required, specifically for working at concerts and events in multiple locations throughout northern and central New Jersey.
