Algonquin Arts Theatre seeks a Scenic Designer for a July 2023 musical theatre production. Early career professionals are encouraged to inquire. This is a paid subcontractor position but housing is not available. Local and Regional New Jersey scenic artists are strongly encouraged to apply.
Duties and Responsibilities
The scenic designer is required to:1. Read the play.
2. Attend scheduled production meetings.
3. Work collaboratively with creative team to develop design concept.
4. Submit preliminary and finished designs by specified deadlines and within budgetary guidelines.
5. Design submissions include:
a. Floor plans, elevations, and scenic elements, based on the approved stage plot and measurements, and drawn to scale in Autocad, Vectorworks, Shapr3D, or other industry-standard software.
b. Renderings and/or illustrations and graphics detailing design choices.
6. Source any specific or unusual materials and provide sourcing information to technical director.
7. Provide necessary guidance and support during load-in and tech week.
8. Attend opening night performance.
