The Marketing Manager is responsible for managing media placement, budget, content and production for all print, digital, broadcast and out of home advertising. Working with the digital agency (Capacity Interactive), the Marketing Manager oversees social media, search engine marketing and online display campaign strategy and implementation. This position reports to the Director of Marketing.

Core responsibilities:
• Develop and implement advertising campaigns (print, digital, radio, TV and out of home).
• Lead the organization’s day-to-day social media strategy by working with internal and external content producers, managing social media campaigns and working laterally throughout the organization to curate social content.

Duties and Responsibilities

SOCIAL MEDIA (30%)
• Work with the NJSO’s digital agency (Capacity Interactive) to:
o Set annual campaign strategies.
o Review performance metrics and make adjustments to placement and content on a continuous basis.
o Communicate to content producers the digital campaign needs.
o Submit content to the digital agency for promoted social posts, search engine marketing and online display advertising.
• Lead organization-wide bi-weekly content meeting; work collaboratively with NJSO staff members to create, maintain and execute an organization-wide editorial calendar. Coordinate with other staff members who create content for and also represent the NJSO on social media.
• Set the tone and voice for NJSO social media:
o Work with the Marketing Assistant to increase fan engagement with the NJSO through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other platforms.
o Strategize contests and other social media engagement strategies.
o In conjunction with Senior Manager of Public Relations & Communications, strategize content for NJSO communication channels and work with the Marketing Assistant on video and graphic production.
o Develop organization guidelines for social media and an annual strategic plan to grow the NJSO’s fan base.
• Stay apprised of current trends in social media that could further engage NJSO audiences and constituents.
• Assist as a backup to social media content production, including video, graphic and text content production.

ADVERTISING (40%)
• Manage media placement, budget, content and production for all print, digital, broadcast (radio/TV) and out-of-home advertising campaigns to support the NJSO’s ticket sales activity.
• Secure media sponsorship agreements and oversee fulfillment.
• Work with Art Director (and/or freelance designers) to produce creative design assets in support of marketing plans and sponsorship/trade agreements, including all print, digital and video assets.
• Write compelling, on-message copy for print, radio and digital ads based on source content provided by internal/external copywriters.
• Review and report on vendor analytics for digital display (Facebook and GDN), SEM (Google AdWords and paid search), TV and broadcast/streaming radio in order to maximize ROI, adjusting as needed to improve results.

PROMOTIONS AND PARTNERSHIPS (15%)
• Create promotional opportunities through media partners that enhance the NJSO’s visibility in our communities and increase ticket sales.
• Solicit and steward partnerships with external constituencies that attract new audiences to the NJSO.

OTHER (15%)
• Maintain positive and productive relationships with NJSO staff, musicians, media vendors and consultants.
• Contribute as an active member of the marketing team, developing marketing strategies to meet institutional objectives; attend and actively participate in weekly supervisor and team meetings.
• Stay within a given budget for all marketing initiatives.
• Code invoices for payment and reconcile with finance data.
• Serve as Marketing department representative at concerts and meetings.
• Perform additional projects as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2–4 years of marketing experience required, preferably experience working with a digital agency and with media purchasing.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical skills, especially in the area of digital marketing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including excellent writing and proofreading skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to function effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to multi-task and work well with shifting priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong aptitude in MS Word and Excel is required.
• Interest in nonprofit, performing arts and orchestral music and experience with project management tools preferred.

• Must be able to physically work in our Newark, NJ, office.
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends and some holidays; and provide own transportation to multiple NJSO performance venues.
• Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Salary and Benefits: NJSO offers a competitive salary and benefits package but does not offer relocation.

Hours: Full time. Expectation is to work flexible business hours, between 8 am and 6 pm. Additional evenings and weekends are required, for concert duty in multiple locations throughout northern New Jersey and promotional onsales.
