The Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton, New Jersey seeks a part-time Communications Coordinator. The Museum specializes in contemporary art, craft, and design and presents approximately thirteen exhibitions and nearly 300 education programs annually. The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for enhancing the visibility of the Museum and promoting awareness of the Museum’s activities.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesSpecific duties will include writing press releases and e-newsletters, updating the Museum’s website, using Facebook and other social media, maintaining an up-to-date list of and cultivating media contacts, developing a communications schedule, developing a museum blog, keeping an archive of press materials, and other related responsibilities. The Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Museum’s other departments and will report directly to the Executive Director.
RequirementsThe successful candidate must have experience using a WordPress platform, Constant Contact or Mailchimp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, blogs and other online social networks. They will be organized, articulate, flexible, have excellent writing skills and able to meet varying workloads. An interest in and knowledge of art as well as experience in the communications department of a museum or other cultural organization are preferred.
