The Programs Assistant works at our MarketFair location and works closely with all departments and reports to the Education Manager. S/he interacts regularly with the visiting public. This is a part-time position including work hours taking place on evenings and weekends as needed. Number of hours per week will be 12 – 25 and starting at $16 per hour.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Programs Assistant include, but are not limited to:

Programs

Education: Develop and implement programs in the visual arts primarily for youth and occasionally for adults
Drop-in Activities: Develop and implement visual arts activities for youth and adults, including the creation of art kits, hands-on projects, and more
Retail Sales: Be knowledgeable and assist with the sales of works included in the current exhibitions
Parties: Coordinate, support, and run art parties for the public (all ages)
Special Events: Assist with the organization and running of special events for the community

Office Support

Customer Service: Provide welcoming and responsive service by interacting directly with customers and vendors, responding to phone calls and emails
Customer Data: Keeping constituent data clean and updated in CRM
Registrations: Process and track registrations, answer questions, check-in students
Maintaining systems: Track and oversee office systems, report on any issues, make suggestions for improvement

Studio Facilities

Daily opening and closing of the facility
Day-to-day oversight of the facility including: Materials and supplies inventory, cleaning, restocking of supplies, trash removal, recycling

Volunteer/Internship Program

Help identify volunteer projects, opportunities
Train new volunteers
Oversee volunteer activities in the facility

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following:

Retail sales experience, including cash handling.
Art gallery experience in displaying, hanging, and/or handling artwork.
Teaching experience with both youth and adult students.
Knowledge and the ability to teach a wide variety of art mediums, such as drawing, watercolor, acrylic painting, sculpture, and printmaking.
An outgoing and positive demeanor to both interact with students and shoppers alike.
Conduct themselves in a professional manner.
