The duCret Center of Art is seeking a passionate and practicing professional artist to teach Color Theory to adult students of fine art and illustration. This course explores color through a fine art lens, with practical application across a range of painting media and artistic disciplines. This is an instructional position ideal for a working artist with a strong studio practice and a desire to share their knowledge in a supportive and creative community. Our students range from beginner to advanced levels and are serious about their artistic development.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Develop and teach an engaging Color Theory course (a curriculum blueprint will be provided with creative input encouraged)

-Demonstrate techniques and concepts during class

-Foster a learning environment that is supportive, exploratory, and technically grounded

-Prepare lessons in alignment with color theory fundamentals, historical context, and practical application for artists

Requirements

-Active, professional art practice and a portfolio demonstrating strong command of color, technique, and visual language

-Prior teaching experience is a plus, but not required — a clear passion for teaching and mentoring is essential
Reliable, communicative, and collaborative

-Must submit a resume and portfolio (website or PDF accepted)

-Can submit a portfolio of past student work if teaching experience is applicable.

-A CV with exhibitions and shows is highly valued

-Weeknight and Weekend Availability
