UPDATE! Congratulations to arts and humanities advocates! I am pleased to share that two House floor amendments, offered by Freedom Caucus member Rep. Josh Brecheen (R-OK) to cut funding to the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) by $48 million each, were soundly defeated tonight. The NEA amendment was defeated by voice vote, while the NEH amendment was defeated by a recorded vote of 269-to-147 (See how your U.S. House Member voted).

The Senate Full Appropriations Committee will mark up its version of the FY’25 Interior Appropriations bill on Tomorrow, July 25th. There is a better chance of securing higher funding levels in the Senate bill, perhaps as much as $211 million each for the NEA and NEH.

Please send a message now to both your Senators to urge the Senate Appropriations Committee to fund the NEA and NEH at $211 million each in the Senate version of the FY’25 Interior Appropriations bill.
