The Little Makerspace
Intern
Posted September 11, 2023
As an intern at The Little Makerspace, you will have an opportunity to get involved in a rapidly growing new business where you can garner experience in developing and implementing projects, teaching, marketing, and administrative business duties. We are extremely passionate about creative education and exploration, and are looking for an intern that shares our passion. Our passion for education translates into ensuring that our staff understand not just the ‘what’ but also the ‘why’. We take the time to teach how to to do a task, and how why it matters to do it well. This position is great for anyone interested in education, visual arts, working with children, and/or in business administration.

Duties and Responsibilities

At The Little Makerspace, we are all Makers! We facilitate process-art programs for children and adults, where there is a focus on the process of making and doing, rather than on a finished product. We are passionate about instilling a spark of creativity in everyone, and know that everyone has the ability to make things. We prioritize exploration and play to facilitate self-confidence, problem solving skills, spatial reasoning, collaboration, and fun! We utilize STEAM techniques and projects to help Makers learn about science, engineering, technology, math, and of course, art! Our studio is a safe space for all to explore their artistic processes, where we encourage them to try, do, and make. We are extremely passionate about creative education and encouraging people to be part of our Maker community. Our business opened in 2023 and we held our first in-person programs in August. We have been growing rapidly, and are looking to grow our team to keep up with demand. For more information, visit our website at www.thelittlemakerspace.com or check out our Instagram page @thelittlemakerspace.

As an intern, your responsibilities will include participating in teaching during our workshops, camps, and classes, assisting with studio set up and breakdown for programs, material preparation, drafting marketing emails, performing market research, and other tasks as needed. Other than the programs that we run a few times a month, intern hours can be flexible. We are looking for someone that can dedicate around 5-10 hours a week, in addition to helping with each of the programs that we run (check our website for class schedule: thelittlemakerspace.com/bookaclass).

Requirements

We are looking for someone with a passion for education, art, and working with children. While no specific experience is necessary, experience working within an educational setting with children is preferred. We are very passionate about this business, and are looking for anyone joining our team to feel the same way. Candidate must be a self-starter who takes initiative, and is interested in doing the best job he/she/they can. Candidate must be at least 18 years old, and able to pass a background check.
