Reporting to the Berrie Center Technical Director (BCTD) and the Theater Technical Director (TTD), the Program Assistant supports the performing arts series, college and academic programs, and other events in their use of the Berrie Center performance and support spaces. The Program Assistant provides technical assistance to the Theater program productions and oversees student aides and students performing lab hours in their work on this variety of programming. The Program Assistant must work a very flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities
Meets regularly with the BCTD and the TTD to determine work schedule and assignments.Serves as Technical Supervisor for events in the Berrie Center performance spaces implementing the decisions made in advance by the BCTD and Berrie Center Director. Events include, but are not limited to, professional performing arts programming, campus events and student activities events.
Assists the TTD on the construction of scenery for the Theater program productions.
Oversees Student Aides and students full-filling lab hours for academic classes in their work on Theater program productions in conjunction with TTD and/or BCTD.
Performs routine maintenance to theatrical equipment and systems in conjunction with the TTD and/or BCTD.
Typical Qualifications
A working knowledge of stage electrics, audio, and projections are required. Scenery and theatrical rigging skills are desirable. Knowledge of and experience in stage management is desirable.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work comfortably at heights.
Must be able to work with a diverse population of artists, faculty, students, and staff and be able to meet flexible work schedule requirements.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills as well as computer and technological literacy.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONSGraduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theater or related field. Relevant experience can be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Appointee will be required to possess a valid driver’s license.
