Premiere Stages, the Equity theatre in residence at Kean University in Union, New Jersey, seeks a House Manager for its premiere production of Diversion by Scott Organ, directed by John J. Wooten (performances September 5-22) at the Bauer Boucher Theatre Center, a 99-seat black box theatre. Performances run Thursdays-Sundays. There are no performances Mondays-Wednesdays.

Duties and Responsibilities

The House Manager’s duties for all 15 performances include but are not limited to: supervising a team of up to 4 ushers in all Front of House responsibilities; setting up the venue’s lobby with pre-show displays; assuring that the venue and the house is clean, safe, and ready for the public; welcoming patrons as they arrive and responding to questions and concerns; communicating with Stage Management about opening house and starting the show; managing the ushers in positions including scanning tickets, distributing playbills, and monitoring the boundaries of the stage; staying until all patrons have left the venue and ensuring the space is orderly and ready to lock up; facilitating late seating for guests who arrive after the show starts; reporting for each show to the Premiere Stages staff.

Planning discussions with the team will begin upon hiring. The House Manager is required to attend front of house training and the final dress rehearsal on Wednesday, September 4. Arrangements can be made to have the House Manager visit the theatre prior to that date, with approval from the Premiere Stages staff. Further details about schedule will be available upon request and/or interview.




Requirements

House Managers must have housing in commutable distance (Kean University is 16 miles from NYC and is 40 minutes via train and car).
