THE POSITION
ArtYard is looking for Seasonal Art Handler/Exhibition Installers to join our collaborative, supportive, and diverse team. You will be joining members of the ArtYard team during show change periods three times/year for several weeks (February, June, October) to support the deinstallation of exhibitions, and installation of new exhibitions in ArtYard’s galleries, or at other times when art handling help is needed.

You will be joining members of the ArtYard team during show change periods three times/year for several weeks (February, June, October) to support the deinstallation of exhibitions, and installation of new exhibitions in ArtYard’s galleries, or at other times when art handling help is needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Art Handler will be prepared to support or undertake some or all of the following duties:
--art handling: wrapping and packing artwork, hanging artwork, object installation
--assembly of temporary wall systems
--light carpentry and painting
--mounting and cutting of wall labels
--assisting with registration duties
--tidying of exhibit back-of-house areas
--organizing inventory of exhibit maintenance tools and equipment
Candidates need not have every skill in order to be eligible. Candidates also need not commit to all show change periods in order to be eligible. ArtYard encourages all applicants to apply.
Must take a collaborative approach and be willing to respond to a changing set of goals and a variety of duties as exhibition installations progress.
Requirements
We are looking for:--2+ years relevant art handling and exhibition installation experience
--2+ years of climbing ladders and handling power tools
--Excellent oral and technical communication skills
--Creative problem solving
--Attention to detail
--Collaborative approach
--Must be willing to work a flexible schedule
In addition it would be great if you also have:
--a passion for art and artists
--3+ years studio art or related field
--3+ years experience with shop tools, finish painting, fabrication
--Experience working with visual artists
--Familiarity with Mila-wall systems
--AV technical skills and basic knowledge of media systems
Physical demands:
--Climbing ladders
--Dexterity-ability to perform manual tasks with hands
--Ability to up lift 30 lbs frequently

Hourly rate: $25-$30
