We are seeking a full-time Director of Development to lead and manage our fundraising efforts. This role involves developing and overseeing strategies to build relationships, secure gifts, and expand our financial support base.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Development Functions:

Oversee the development calendar and establish processes for corporate, individual, major gifts, planned giving, and other fundraising opportunities.
Cultivate, solicit, and steward funders, including naming opportunities, legacy and planned giving, foundation support, recurring donations, matching funds, tributes, and special honors.
Cultivate, solicit, and steward corporate and individual sponsorships for events, programs, and projects.
Work closely with the Board of Trustees to identify and target new connections and relationships.
Serve as the liaison to the Board Development Committee.
Manage campaigns for low-dollar, mid-level, and major gift donors, as well as affinity group giving.
Manage Annual, Winter, and Spring Appeals, along with the Annual Report.
Oversee the membership program, including setting membership levels, optimizing benefits, and driving growth and member engagement .
Develop and oversee the calendar of fundraising events, ensuring effective planning and execution.
Grants and Proposals:

Research, write, and assemble grant proposals, funding requests, letters of intent, and foundation solicitations.
Track and manage donor reporting needs, grant agreements, and ensure fulfillment of grant benefits such as logos, acknowledgments, and institutional responsibilities.
Complete impact reports by working with program managers and Finance to track outcomes, gather impact stories, and meet financial reporting requirements.
Database and Reporting:

Maintain and update the CRM database, ensuring its accuracy and relevance, and manage its online donation and event management interfaces.
Furnish reports and lists for appeals and campaigns.
Maintain records of all corporate/foundation interactions, including grant agreements and documentation of calls and meetings.
Oversee the database of annual gift matching programs, tracking documents, online input, donor follow-ups, and database integrity.
Donor Stewardship:

Manage the stewardship calendar, including donor touchpoints such as cards, letters, calls, invitations, and other acknowledgment activities.
Write and manage acknowledgment letters for donations, appeals, tributes, and honors.
Ensure the fulfillment of benefits, sponsorships, and facility naming opportunities.
Networking and Outreach: Attend networking and outreach events to represent BFC, build relationships, and further organizational goals (e.g., chambers, nonprofits, coordinating committees, county task forces, etc.).

Presentations and Campaign Materials: Create presentations, decks, and materials for donor asks and sponsorship pitches.

Supervision: Supervise the Communications Manager to align marketing, public relations, and development efforts.

Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree
At least 3 years of grant writing and development experience
Proficient computer skills and CRM experience a must
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with budgeting and budget development. Basic financial management skills
Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills
Self-starter, motivated, and able to take initiative in all situations; ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and inclusive environment
Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team; work well with diverse styles and personalities
Strong relationship-building skills and ability to network with potential donors and sponsors.
