The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the museum, responsible for
overseeing all aspects of operations including administration, programming, fundraising, and
capital improvements. This leader will ensure the museum fulfills its mission of educating,
challenging, and inspiring community through the arts.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy
 Develop and implement the museum's strategies in collaboration with the Board of
Trustees
 Lead the staff to achieve the museum's vision and mission
 Serve as the primary spokesperson, representing the museum in public forums, media,
and community events
 Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment that celebrates diversity in art and
audience
Board Relations
 Collaborate with the Board of Trustees to develop policies that support the museum's
mission
 Provide regular updates on operations, finances, and strategic direction
 Participate in monthly committee meetings
 Support Board recruitment and development to ensure a diverse and effective governing
body
Fundraising and Development
 Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies
 Cultivate relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors
 Oversee annual appeal, campaigns, special events, and grants
 Ensure financial sustainability through diverse revenue streams

Operations and Financial Management
 Oversee day-to-day operations
 Represent the organization at museum events and cultivate stakeholder relationships
 Develop and manage annual budget
 Monitor financial performance
 Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
 Develop new revenue streams
 Oversee capital improvements of the historic building
 Other duties as required
Exhibitions and Collections
 Work with exhibitions committee and coordinator to maintain a vibrant exhibition
schedule
 Oversee exhibition development, curation, and installation
 Ensure proper care and management of the permanent collection
Education and Community Engagement
 Guide development of educational programs, workshops, and community events
 Create strategic partnerships to expand reach and impact
 Build relationships with artists, community leaders, and cultural organizations
Communications
 Oversee strategic communications and marketing initiatives
 Ensure consistent and effective brand management

Requirements

 Three years minimum (five preferred) senior leadership experience in museum or arts
organization management
 Proven track record in fundraising and donor relations
 Experience managing budgets of $800,000+
 Strong understanding of museum best practices and current trends
 Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Museum Studies, Arts
Administration, or related field
 Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
