Hunterdon Art Museum (HAM) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual for the full-time role of Education Coordinator. This pivotal role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities crucial to the smooth operation and success of our bustling Education Department. The Education Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Director of Education and Community Engagement, ensuring that all educational programs and initiatives are efficiently managed and effectively executed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions
• Answering the telephone and assisting callers
• Standing, walking, bending, frequent use of hands, stooping, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 40 pounds
• Ordering, preparing, and transporting materials for classes, workshops, special events
• Maintaining and rearranging studio spaces (and surrounding areas), supplies, and ArtZone
• Moving and setting up of furniture (tables and chairs) and other equipment for special events and workshops
• Writing emails/weekend updates, updating education pages of website, creating and distributing flyers, and creating PSAs
• Organizing electronic files, processing registrations and payments
• Creating gallery guides, scheduling tours and private lessons
• Representing HAM at school and other community events
• Coordinating summer camp and supervising HAM Helpers
• Coordinating Young Artist Showcase (YAS): communicate with teachers, oversee installation of exhibitions, process payments, supervise volunteers
• Coordinating Scouts programs: communicate with Scouts leaders/organizations, process payments, coordinate workshops (schedule instructors, order supplies, set up studios, etc.)
• Assisting with other departmental and museum activities as needed

Requirements

WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday-Friday from 9am–5pm, with occasional evenings and weekends.
During Summer Camp (June 17-Aug 16), hours shift to 7:30am-4:30pm (M) and 8am–4:30pm (T-F); OT will be paid during this period.


The ideal candidate possesses strong computer, communication, organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills. They should demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, thrive in a fast- paced environment, and work independently.

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Art or Museum Education, Art History, or Studio Art. Prior experience in museum or art education, working with children or adults, and/or familiarity with the public school system is preferred.
