The Morris Museum seeks an enthusiastic and dynamic educator to join the museum’s education team as Associate Educator.

The Associate Educator is responsible for the logistics coordination and successful delivery of classroom activities on site at the Museum for early childhood and K-12 students.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the logistics of student visits with internal resources and external points of contact, including but not limited to scheduling, on site expectations, content delivery, costs and invoicing
• Enthusiastically lead school tours and classroom workshops of our collections and special exhibitions, imparting knowledge and encouraging curiosity
• Properly maintain and keep well organized classroom Inventory and storage spaces to ensure an exceptional guest experience
• Proactively reach out and support school community programs and invitations to Morris Museum to ensure a steady flow of visitors and guests into the education programs
• Serve as the teacher for all classroom activities, including but not limited to planning and preparation of lessons and materials, delivery of content, and measurement of guest satisfaction
• Manage the scheduling and registration for adult studio art classes in coordination with studio art classes instructor
• Attend staff meetings as required, being an active contributor to discussions and ideas for continuous improvement
• Seek out opportunities to contribute to the overall success of the Museum, including lending support to other areas as may be required to meet our guests needs

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in studio art or art education, or related field
• Minimum 2 years' experience teaching in schools, museums, art centers or similar environments with a diverse range of students – Internships will be considered experience!
• Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional customer service
• Highly welcoming, engaging, energetic personality that brings creatively and enthusiasm to every day
• Effective and positive presentation and classroom management skills both 1:1 and in a group setting
• Willingly stays current with learning standards and methods that drive creativity and curiosity
• Ability to take direction, multi-task and think critically in a busy work environment
