Liberty Hall Museum seeks one summer intern to contribute to the ongoing process of the museum’s archival remediation project. The intern will work with the curator to assist in arranging, describing, rehousing, and updating the finding aid. Opportunity to create a social media post may be available depending on project process. Additionally, the intern will help identify documents of preservation concern and assist in the remediation of preservation concerns when necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Describe documents to arrange them into corresponding series
• Update finding aid when appropriate
• Move record boxes into the temperature-controlled environment building on museum property.
• Identify and document preservation concerns; assist in the remediation of preservation concerns when necessary
• Rehouse items into archival-safe containers when necessary
• Perform additional collection management tasks as needed

Requirements

• Graduate student, advanced undergraduate student, or recent graduate enrolled in a Library and Information Science, Museum Studies, History, Public History, or related program
• Coursework in collection management or archival processing preferred but not required
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Physically able to climb stairs and work with boxes weighing up to 25 pounds
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
