            George Street Playhouse, a professional, producing theatre company 40 minutes from Manhattan, seeks Adult Acting Class Instructor to join our team for our 22/23 season at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center. George Street Playhouse’s growing company is seeking experienced candidates for the position of Adult Acting Class Instructor. Please review the list of responsibilities and qualifications. This position is required to work in-person at George Street Playhouse in the New Brunswick performing Arts Center.         Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:- Teach improvisational skills and acting techniques, including voice and movement
- Teach text, and character analysis through scene work and monologues
- Set up and take down of equipment (tables), chairs, materials)
- Plan and execute 7-week adult acting classes on Monday evenings
- Submit all required hours and/or paperwork to the education department head in a timely and organized manner
- Participate in and complete teacher onboarding and orientation
- Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues and students
- Create an atmosphere conducive for safe learning
- Present a positive role model for students that supports the mission and values of George Street Playhouse
- Be prepared to offer modifications to exercises as needed based on individuals student abilities
- Share written preparation of lesson progressions upon request
- Prepare lessons that reflect consideration for individual student differences
Non Essential Job Duties / Other Duties:
- The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to
exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Occasional set-up and take-down of chairs, boxes, tables, materials up to 20 lbs
- The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
Requirements
Requirements:- Clear philosophy on acting
- Strong sense of professionalism
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to move equipment up to 20lbs (such as chairs, boxes and tables)
- All candidates are subject to a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in a performing arts discipline, education or other relevant area (BA, MFA preferred)
- Experience in acting techniques (Uta Hagen,Stanislavski Method, Chekhov Acting technique, or Meisner)
- Experience teaching adults of all ages and skill level
- Experience creating and administering curriculum for a 7 -week course
Working Conditions:

- Password protected facility with elevator entry
- Public parking in garage or on street available ($150 per semester travel fee provided)
- Adult Acting Classes are 6:00pm EST - 8:00pm EST. It is expected that the Class Instructor arrives twenty minutes prior to the start of class time.

The Opportunity:
- George Street Playhouse offers a fee of $50.00 per/hour plus a $150.00 per semester travel and parking fee. This is an independent contractor position.
