The Institutional Giving Manager is an experienced frontline fundraising professional who combines strong relationship-building skills with exceptional writing and organization. Reporting to the Director of Advancement, this position manages a portfolio of corporate, foundation, and government funders while identifying and cultivating new prospects. The successful candidate is comfortable making unsolicited outreach, scheduling donor meetings, writing compelling grant proposals and reports, including government grants, and managing multiple deadlines.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities• Manage a portfolio of corporate, foundation, government, and individual institutional donors.
• Research, write, and submit compelling grant proposals, reports, and supporting materials, including county and state government grants.
• Develop and maintain an annual grants calendar and ensure all deadlines are met.
• Identify new funding prospects and confidently conduct outreach, including cold calls and introductory meetings.
• Represent George Street Playhouse in meetings, networking events, and donor cultivation activities.
• Partner across GSP departments to gather program information and develop fundable projects.
• Maintain accurate donor records in Tessitura.
• Assist with donor stewardship, sponsorship fulfillment, cultivation events, opening nights, and the annual gala.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Advancement.
Requirements
Required Qualifications• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of fundraising, institutional giving, or grant writing experience.
• Demonstrated success writing persuasive grant proposals and reports.
• Experience pursuing government grants; NJSCA experience is a plus but not required.
• Proven frontline fundraising, donor cultivation, and prospecting skills.
• Outstanding written, verbal, organizational, and project management skills.
• Experience with CRM systems (Tessitura preferred).
• Passion for the performing arts or not-for-profit sector.
Work Hours
The standard office schedule is Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM but these hours are flexible to 8-4 or 9-5. Evening and weekend hours are required for events, performances, and special activities.
